Football may be over, but we are just kicking off. We’ve teamed with NFL’s Inspire Change to recruit the next great generation of mentors.
Last January, the National Football League launched the Inspire Change Initiative, showcasing the collaborative efforts of players, owners, and the league to create positive change in communities across the country by addressing social justice issues in America. Broadly focused on reducing barriers to opportunity, the league and players will more specifically hone in on three areas within the social justice space: improvements to police and community relations, improvements to education and economic advancement, and criminal justice reform.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of SWLA is kicking off our 2020 Big Draft Recruitment Campaign. We're teaming up with the NFL to inspire change because now is the time! Although the NFL season is over, our search for potential Bigs is only just getting started. Currently, there are 30 youth enrolled in our program, called "Littles," who are waiting for a volunteer mentor, called a “Big”. We are launching The Big Draft to recruit more Bigs, and on April 25th we’ll introduce the “draft picks” from the season. We would be thrilled to have your help in sparking excitement for the Big Draft by encouraging volunteers to sign up as Bigs!
